Tata Curvv EV: The Coupe-SUV Bringing Style to Tata's Electric Lineup

The Tata Curvv EV takes everything that's worked for the Nexon EV and wraps it in a sportier, more style-driven body. It's Tata's answer for buyers who want an electric SUV that looks a step above the mainstream — without the jump in price that usually comes with it. Here's a closer look at what the Curvv EV brings to the table.

Price and Positioning

The Tata Curvv EV is priced from around ₹16.99 lakh to ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) under its latest SeriesX lineup, with on-road prices typically landing in the ₹18-25.6 lakh range depending on city and variant. It's positioned as a rival to the MG ZS EV and sits a notch above the Nexon EV in Tata's own lineup, aimed at buyers who want distinctive styling and a more premium feel. As of May 2026, Tata streamlined the range to focus solely on the larger 55kWh battery pack across three variants: Accomplished X, Empowered X, and Empowered X Dark.

Battery, Range and Performance

The Curvv EV runs on a 55kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing around 165-167bhp and 215Nm of torque. Tata claims an ARAI-certified range of up to 502-585km depending on the testing cycle referenced, though real-world figures from reviewers tend to land closer to 365-450km. The 0-100kmph sprint takes around 8.6 to 11.15 seconds depending on drive mode, with Eco, City, and Sport modes available to balance performance against range.

Charging the 55kWh pack from 10-80% takes about 40 minutes on a 70kW DC fast charger, while a 7.2kW AC home charger takes roughly 7.9 hours for a 10-100% charge. The battery comes backed by an 8-year or 1,60,000km warranty, and Tata has also introduced a Lifetime HV Battery Warranty option for added peace of mind.

Design: A Sportier Take on the Nexon

The Curvv EV's biggest draw is its coupe-SUV silhouette — a sharply sloping roofline, flush illuminated door handles, gloss black cladding, and 18-inch aero wheels give it a noticeably sportier stance than the Nexon EV, even though the two share a fair bit of their underlying design language up front. The closed-off grille houses the charging port behind the Tata logo (relocated from the rear fender, similar to the Punch EV, for easier access), while a full-width LED light bar runs across the rear along with a raked tailgate — striking, though it does compromise rear visibility somewhat.

Dimensions come in at 4310mm in length, 1810mm in width, and 1637mm in height, with a 2560mm wheelbase. Practicality hasn't been sacrificed for style either — the Curvv EV offers 500 litres of boot space along with an 11.6-litre front frunk.

Cabin and Technology

Inside, the Curvv EV shares much of its dashboard layout with the Nexon EV, though with a distinct crash pad pattern that echoes the front bumper design. Key features include a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display (running Tata's arcade.ev suite with streaming and gaming apps), a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system on top variants. A blind-view monitor is also included, displaying live camera feeds on either screen — a genuinely useful touch in city traffic.

Safety

The Curvv EV has earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and comes equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, along with a 360-degree camera, electronic stability program, and all-disc brakes tied to an i-VBAC braking system for strong stopping power.

On the Road

Reviewers describe the Curvv EV's driving character as mature and composed — the heavy battery pack lowers its centre of gravity, resulting in controlled body roll and confident cornering, though the suspension can feel firm and slightly noisy over sharp bumps at low speeds. It settles comfortably into highway cruising around 90-100kmph, and cabin insulation has been praised as a strong point.

Who Should Consider the Curvv EV?

The Curvv EV is built for buyers who want their electric SUV to stand out, without stepping into the pricier flagship territory of the Harrier EV. It particularly suits:

  • Buyers who prioritise design and road presence alongside solid range
  • Tech-focused drivers who want a well-equipped cabin with ADAS and connected features
  • Anyone cross-shopping the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, or Hyundai Creta Electric and wanting something with a sportier profile

With no direct rival in the "electric sports coupe" category it defines for itself, the Curvv EV currently stands out as one of the more distinctive-looking electric SUVs in its price bracket.
